Inland Country Garden

The brief for this beautiful garden was to create a naturalistic garden that would complement the landscape beyond its boundaries. The client is a keen plants-woman who wanted a garden that was reasonably low maintenance because of its size with enough to do to satisfy her passion for gardening.

With a good-sized patio area beside the house, a smaller one at the bottom of the garden in front of the greenhouse, and a good-sized lawn for her lovely dog, the garden areas are all connected by a series of paths.

Privacy was a top priority as the property has a public right of way running down one boundary. We managed to achieve that while retaining the beautiful view beyond. Although sunny and south – facing, this can be a windy garden and the planting had to be able to stand up to some tough conditions throughout the year, while still looking good and providing a haven for wildlife at the same time.

Client Testimonial

"I discovered Lisa’s work online and was delighted when she agreed to undertake the project to design my garden. When she first visited, the garden consisted of turf and some hedging and looked very dull. With the aid of a landscaping team recommended by Lisa, we transformed it - adding paths, terracing, and extensive beds for grasses, perennials, shrubs and small trees. The garden now has year-round appeal, with lots of colour and variety. From our first meeting onwards, I found Lisa’s friendly and collaborative approach reassuring. While she brings a wealth of experience and expert knowledge, she is open to her client’s suggestions. She communicates clearly throughout the process - whether it is about the design itself, cost, timescales, feasibility or expected outcomes. She is reliable and responds quickly if there are problems or questions to address. It is clear from her approach that she enjoys the challenge of diverse projects but is guided first and foremost by what her client is aiming to achieve. My “new garden” is now 2 years old, and it has brought immense pleasure to me, my family and friends thanks to Lisa and her colleagues. I cannot recommend Lisa highly enough."
